Eternal Purpose
John 3:16 (New International Version, © 2011)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
God did everything for us to be saved, all He asks is that we believe in His only Son and receive His Son in our hearts and we shall be saved. It is God’s heart that all will come to repentance and the knowledge of Him.
What amazing love is this that almighty God, Creator of the whole universe loved us, the unlovely, so much that He was willing to offer His only Son, that He might gain relationship back with us. This reminds me of the film ‘honey I shrunk the kids’ only on a much bigger scale (a universal scale with billions of galaxies)!
God’s purpose is eternal, and His eternity starts now.
John 17:3 (New Living Translation)
3 And this is the way to have eternal life – to know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
God’s heart is for the lost, that is why He is keeping us here a little longer, so we might be used by Him to draw people to Himself.
That is why God placed us in families, and communities that we may shine for Him, and be His hands, His mouth and His feet to all of our loved ones who don’t know Him yet, what a privilege!
I pray that we might recognise the amazing grace of God every day, and that we might choose to live for Him, to shine everywhere with His love, and to set the captives free by His truth.
And we don’t even need to do this in our own strength:
Galatians 2:20 (New International Version, © 2011)
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
- Why does God want everyone saved?
- How much did God pay for you to be saved?
- What and when is eternal life?
